onetonline.org and careercruising.com

This week my students researched careers in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communication cluster. They used two resources this time to gather their information. I'm curious to know if they saw both strengths and weaknesses in both onetonline.org and careercruising.com information. I also wonder if they see a benefit to why I would ask them to use both websites and why one might want to consider both when researching careers.

Learning styles and Business Management and Administration

This week, we have been learning about careers in Business Management and Administration and how they might relate to our own learning styles. According to careercruising.com, we all are either visual, auditory, or tactile learners. It seems to me that all careers in all clusters would and do relate to at least one of those learning styles. I wonder how my students connect their own learning style to the particular careers they researched on onet.org.

Architecture and Construction

The past couple of years have been exciting to be involved in education in Edgar County. For the first time in over 100 years, the Paris community has decided to build a new school--a new high school. With that comes a robust boost to the Architecture/Construction job market both locally and regionally. As Career Exploration students complete their research in this career cluster, I have to wonder how it relates to what is going on locally? Are there people working on the new school who have a career that my students have researched? If not, how could those careers be used at the worksite for the new school? I also wonder if any of my students have a real interest in having an architecture or construction career.
